In many countries, people speak someone's name to call the person. In Thailand, however, they have their unique way to call each other.

Thailand is hierarchical society, so they put a word before calling name to indicate the elder and the younger. The people of Thailand address to the elders by adding a "Pi" before their names. On the other hand, "Nong" is added before the name of a child or younger to show endearment.
